Donations are being accepted for a Manchester cemetery that was vandalized last week.
Someone damaged over two dozen headstones at Oakland Cemetery last Thursday night. Sara Breckenfelder of Manchester serves as treasurer of the Manchester Cemetery Company.
Breckenfelder says paying for the costs to repair those damaged headstones won’t be easy.
Several local residents angry about the senseless vandalism have offered to make a donation to help pay for the repairs – something Breckenfelder says is very much appreciated.
If you’d like to help with a donation, you can send cash or a check made payable to the Manchester Cemetery Company at 1223 North Franklin Street in Manchester. F&M Bank is also serving as a drop-off site for donations.
Breckenfelder says the cemetery board appreciates everyone’s support – and they’re asking for your patience as they try to sort through the situation. They have gotten questions from family members wondering which headstones have been damaged, but they haven’t been able to provide those answers just yet.
Manchester Police are continuing to investigate the vandalism at Oakland Cemetery. We’ll let you know if and when any arrests are made.
