Dubuque County is joining the growing list of Iowa counties allowing ATVs and UTVs on county roads.
The Dubuque County Board of Supervisors passed an ATV/UTV ordinance on Monday night by a vote of 2 to 1, with Supervisor McDonough voting against it.
The Dubuque County ATV/UTV Alliance had been trying for years to get an ordinance passed.
There are several basic requirements, including travel only from 5 am to sunset. Drivers must be at least 18 with proof of insurance and Iowa registration stickers. Lights, an orange flag and a rearview mirror are also all required.
The new ordinance will go into effect next Wednesday, September 4th.
