Former Manchester Black Hills Energy Supervisor Promoted to State Role

A former supervisor at Manchester’s Black Hills Energy office has been promoted within the company.

Shirley Welte has been appointed to vice president for Black Hills Energy in Iowa. In her new role, Welte is responsible for all aspects of managing operations for the company in Iowa. Black Hills Energy serves over 158-thousand customers in 133 Iowa communities, including Manchester and Dubuque.

Welte will be based in Grimes. She replaces Wes Ashton, who is relocating within the company to Arkansas.

Welte first joined Black Hills Energy in 2012 as an operations supervisor based in Manchester and has held other leadership roles prior to her new vice president role.
