
West Delaware got the 2019 Cross Country season started Tuesday at the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Invitational. On the girls side, the Hawks finished 12th. Top finishers for the Hawks:
61 Grace Millenkamp; 64 Brooke Lewin; 65 Brigid McMahon; 69 Faith Litterer; 70 Jadyn Werner; 74 Gracie Weeks; and 75 Katie McGrane. The meet was won by Hempstead. Center Point Urbana was 3rd; Mount Vernon Lisbon was 4th; Marion 5th; and Springville-Central City came in 8th.
On the boy’s side, West Delaware took 9th. For the Hawks: 34 Nathan Goranson; 37 Blake Smith; 44 Andrew Salas; 60 Jesse Thurn; 62 Matthew Mensen; and 63 Tyger Vaske. Hempstead won the meet with Marion coming in 2nd. Center Point-Urbana was 4th; Mount Vernon-Lisbon 5th; and Springville-Central City 12th.

MOUNT VERNON-LISBON INVITATIONAL BOYS RESULTS
Ed-Co held their invitational at Wood’s Edge Golf Course on Tuesday. On the girl’s side, the meet was won by Jesup. Starmont came in 2nd; Elkader Central 3rd; Beckman 7th. Starmont Junior Kenna Meisgeier took the top spot overall with a time of 20:20. Also for Starmont: 9 Makenzie Plagman; 11 Kari German; 19 Hannah VanHyfte; 20 Mya Vaske; 22 Madeline Harford; and 29 Callan Willie. For Beckman: 24 Isabelle Kluesner; 31 Olivia Their; 42 Savanah Oberbroeckling; 43 Jordan Their and 44 Sydney Reiter.
South Winneshiek won the boys competition. Starmont came in 3rd ; Alburnett was 6th and Beckman came in 8th. For the Stars Henry Hayes came insecond overall with a time of 8:15; 5 Dylan Conner; 16 Christopher Baumgarnter; 17 Charlie Sieck; 37 Braydon Wedo. 40 Connor Wittman; 43 Evan Baumgarnter. For Beckman: 28 Danil Wall; 36 Isaac Schlarmann; 41 Nate Schaefer; 46 Joe Schneider; 48 Cassius McGrane; 49 Auden Recker; and 52 Isaac Westhoff. For Ed-Co, Kody Hoeger came in 28th; Carson Kirby was 37th; Sam Schilling 41st; and Lucas Rezende 49th.
