HS VOLLEYBALL: Saturday Recap

The Class 4A 5th-ranked West Delaware Volleyball team went 4-1 at the Cedar Falls hosted tournament on the campus of UNI on Saturday. The Hawks beat Waterloo West and Cedar Rapids Washington 2-0 and had wins over West Des Moines Dowling and Dike-New Hartford 2-1. They lost to Osage 2-1. WD sits at 28-3 on the season now and will return WaMaC conference play on Thursday night when they host Solon for their annual breast cancer awareness fundraiser night.

Class 2A 3rd-rated Beckman won the Denver Invitational with 2-0 victories over Maquoketa Valley, Starmont, Sumner-Fredricksburg, Tripoli and the host Cyclones.

Maquoketa Valley beat Starmont 2-0 and lost to Sumner-Fred and Tripoli.

Starmont beat Tripoli 2-0 and lost to Sumner-Fred.

Ed-Co was at the North Cedar Tournament in Clarence and went 2-2 as they placed second in their pool and lost in the semi-finals of the championship bracket. They had 2-0 wins over Durant and Midland, falling 2-0 to North Cedar and 3A 4th-ranked Tipton.

Independence went 4-1 at Dubuque Hempstead. The Mustangs secured 2-0 wins over ADM and Davenport North. They won 2-1 over Bettendorf and Dubuque Senior. They fell to Iowa City High 2-0.

Monticello went 2-2 at their own Invite. The Panthers defeated Northeast and Central DeWitt 2-0 and lost to Maquoketa and Union 2-0.
