Local School Board Candidates Announced

The candidates for November’s school board elections have been announced.

West Delaware has a candidate running for all three open spots on its school board. Current board members Carl Johnson and Bruce Mitchell are running for re-election in District 2 and Director At-Large, with newcomer Sam Milroy running for the open spot in District 1.

Maquoketa Valley has two incumbents running for its two open seats – Donna Kunde in District 1 and John Zietlow in District 5.

Ed-Co has two positions available for Director At-Large, with newcomers Jeff Hoeger and Tammy Kirby running for election.

Western Dubuque has a couple of contested races for its school board elections this year. Incumbent Jessica Pape is being challenged by Michael Clasen in District 2 and newcomers Jeff Wolf and Nancy Fett are vying for the open seat in District 4. Incumbent Chad Vaske is running for re-election in District 5.

Starmont has four candidates vying for three open spots on its school board, including incumbents Julie Uhlenkamp and Kevin Powell, as well as Terry Seedorff and Anthony Robert Recker.

Monticello has two newcomers running for its two open positions – Amanda Brenneman and John Schlarmann.

And North Linn’s current school board members are running for re-election – Ryan Benesch for District 1, Connie Helms for District 2 and Bret Haughenbury for At-Large.

This year’s school board elections will be held in conjunction with the city elections on Tuesday, November 5th.
