The Dyersville library is celebrating its diamond anniversary this Saturday.
The James Kennedy Public Library opened its doors 60 years ago as the Dyersville Public Library on September 11, 1959.
On Saturday, they’ll celebrate with a host of events from noon to 5 pm. There will be a 1950s Car Show in the parking lot adjacent to the library; board games, toys, LEGOs and face painting; and a chance to visit and take photos with costumed characters like Batman, Spiderman, Cinderella and the Cat in the Hat. There will also be 1950s gadgets, as well as a historical display showcasing what was happening in Dyersville and the world during that time. You can stop by and make crafts and there will be a “Price is Right” Game Show at 1:30 pm testing your knowledge of the 1950s.
The Dubuque County Dairy Association ice cream barn will be in the parking lot handing out free ice cream. And free popcorn and punch will also be available.
All ages are welcome.
