Maquoketa Valley Celebrating Homecoming

Maquoketa Valley is celebrating Homecoming this week.

On Sunday evening, the entire high school student body had the opportunity to participate in Powder Puff football and Ironman volleyball, along with students decorating all over the school and communities. The Junior girls were victorious in the Powder Puff competition and the Sophomore boys took the Ironman bragging rights.

Student dress-up days this week have included Dynamic Duo Day, Throwback Tuesday, Workout Wednesday and Class Color Day – they’ll wrap up the week with Spirit Day on Friday.

On Friday, the Maquoketa Valley student body will also participate in the Student Council class competitions in the afternoon. The Homecoming parade starts at 2 pm – and afterwards at 2:30 pm, students, staff and community are welcome to the High School gym for a Pep Assembly and the crowning of the school’s 2023 Homecoming King.

This year’s Maquoketa Valley Homecoming King candidates are Aidan Salow, Tate Monk, Lance McShane and George Livingston. The Queen candidates are Josie Teymer, Lily Huber, Livia Hermanson and Alia Domeyer.

The Homecoming Queen will be crowned at halftime of the varsity game on Friday night. The game starts at 7 pm, with the Wildcats taking on the Postville Pirates.

Maquoketa Valley will wrap up the week with their Homecoming dance on Saturday night.
