Manchester Preparing for 2020 Street Project

Manchester is preparing for their 2020 Street Project – and it’s a big one next year.

The City will be working with the State to resurface Highway 13 through the heart of Manchester.

Engineer Ryan Wicks says part of the project includes some widening and other changes along North Franklin Street.

The project will have a big impact on local residents and drivers in town, as well as businesses along that stretch of road work. Construction is expected to last from April through October. Wicks says the entire stretch of Highway 13 won’t be closed during that time – but there will be stretches throughout that period where portions of the highway will be closed with detours in place.

Access to the Delaware County Fair will be affected next summer – traffic will need to use Fairview Drive and Grandview Drive.

And while work is going on along Highway 13, there will also be road work on the other side of Manchester – shutting down the east entrance into town from Old Highway 20.

Residents had chance to ask questions about the 2020 Street Project at an open house hosted by the City last month. This will be a major street project for Manchester – we’ll keep you updated every step of the way, so be sure to tune in to KMCH next year for information on street closures, detours and other project information.

This map shows the formal detour route of IA13 which is planned to be in place from June 15th through August 14th during the widening work taking place from Seeley Street through Acers Street. The intent of this detour is to allow that traffic which is passing through Manchester on IA13 to avoid the construction work.  However, access will remain for all local business and signage will be posted showing access is available.
