A man was arrested after a standoff in Fairbank on Wednesday afternoon.
Fairbank Police say around 12:30 pm, they received information that a person with active arrest warrants out of Buchanan County was at a home at 404 Forest Street. Police requested assistance from the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office in attempting to take the person into custody.
When authorities responded, the person barricaded himself inside the home and would not communicate with law enforcement.
As a precaution, Fairbank Elementary School and Little Island Daycare, both of which were in close proximity to the home, were placed on lockdown.
After about a half hour, he was taken into custody without incident.
Police arrested 36-year old Christopher Becker of Sumner on active arrest warrants out of Buchanan County for original charges of second degree Harassment, Tampering with Witness or Juror and fifth degree Theft. These charges were originally filed by Fairbank Police and stemmed from a previous incident.
