Delhi has a few new trees in its community thanks to a grant.
The 15-hundred dollar grant is from Power of Trees, a Black Hills Energy and Trees Forever partnership. It’s one of sixteen projects statewide that Black Hills Energy is sponsoring this year through its energy efficiency programs.
With this grant money, the Delhi Tree Committee was able to purchase six trees for the city park – three Silver Linden and three Red Oak – that have been planted around the Delhi Legion building. The community trees will help block and redirect cold winter winds and help reduce winter heating energy use.
The Delhi Betterment Committee volunteered to cover the cost of mulch for the trees, so there was no cost to the City of Delhi.
A planting ceremony was held in the Delhi City Park last Thursday.
