The opening night of Class 3A, 4A and 5A Regional Volleyball was held last night and our KMCH Sports featured match was a tight one in Anamosa. Monticello came back after being down two games to one to win 3-2. The Panthers won the first set 25-20 then Anamosa took games two and three 27-25, 25-21. Monti then came back and claimed sets four and five 25-22 and 15-13. For the Panthers it was their first postseason win since 2010 and it ended a 4-game losing streak to Anamosa. They improved to 20-13 and will face Independence on the road next Tuesday night. The Mustangs earned a 3-0 win over Vinton-Shellsburg last night. Western Dubuque blanked Central DeWitt 3-0 in Epworth. The Bobcats will travel to Dubuque Wahlert Tuesday night.
It’s State Qualifying Meet Thursday for High School Girls and Boys Cross Country teams in the state.
In Class 3A, West Delaware and Anamosa will be at Independence.
In 2A, Beckman and Starmont will be at North Fayette Valley. Monticello is at Dike-NewHartford.
In 1A, East Buchanan, Ed-Co and North Linn will be at Cedar Falls. Cascade and Maquoketa Valley will be down at Iowa City Regina.
And in 4A, Western Dubuque will be in Cedar Falls.
