Littleport Road is now open in Clayton County.
The nearly seven-month project wrapped up Thursday. It covered about nine miles of road, from the north edge of the old town of Littleport running south to the intersection with Highway 3 by Edgewood.
The Clayton County Secondary Roads Department tells KMCH that they had to crush the existing concrete highway that was laid down in the mid-1970s. They then re-used that material into the base of the new road.
The Littleport Road improvements also included widening the shoulders, tiling the shoulders, re-working drainage ditches and re-grading the road, finishing it with two layers of asphalt.
The road re-opened to traffic on Thursday.
