Delaware County’s unemployment rate has dropped.
Iowa Workforce Development says the county’s rate for September was one-point-seven percent – down from two-point-two percent in August. That means around 190 people in Delaware County are currently unemployed.
While unemployment is down from the previous month, it’s slightly higher than it was a year ago at this time when it was just one-point-five percent.
However, Delaware County has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the state. Unemployment rates in surrounding counties include two percent in Dubuque, two-point-one in Buchanan and Clayton, two-point-two in Jones, two-point-four in Fayette and two-point-five percent in Linn County.
Iowa’s unemployment rate is at two-point-five percent, with the U.S. unemployment rate currently at three-point-five.
