A former Manchester City Council member was welcomed back last night.
Connie Behnken was appointed to serve the remaining term of Ron Struble, who resigned earlier this month due to health issues. Behnken, who was sworn in at last night’s meeting, had served ten and a half years on the city council before resigning last year and she tells KMCH she is grateful to be back.
Behnken will serve out the final two years of Struble’s term until the end of 2021. She says she just wants to see the City keep moving forward.
And history was made last night. With Behnken appointed, there are now three women serving on the Manchester City Council – it is the first time that the City has had more women council members than men.
