City and school elections were combined into one election for the first time ever on Tuesday.
Here’s a look at the results of the contested races in Delaware County:
In Manchester, incumbent Dean Sherman narrowly defeated his challenger John Curran for City Council Ward One. Sherman won re-election with 51% of the vote – winning by just five votes.
For the first time in eighteen years, Hopkinton will have a new mayor. Michael Feldmann defeated longtime incumbent Cathy Harris with 61% of the vote.
In Delhi, Greg Preussner was re-elected mayor, defeating Joe Vorwald with 59% of the vote.
Laurie Kramer and Shawn Wilson both won the two seats on the Delhi City Council, with 35% and 28% respectively.
On the Ryan City Council, Michael McElliott and Melvin Campbell were declared winners, with 46% and 35% respectively.
And it was a tight race for the Dundee City Council, with Vern Feldmann receiving 33%, Bob Burgin 27% and Scott Gibbs and AJ Koloc each with 26% of the vote – only three spots available on that board. We’ll see how those canvass results turn out.
Jessica Pape and Nancy Fett won their respective Western Dubuque School Board seats. Starmont School Board results were not yet finalized.
We’ll have further results Wednesday on KMCH and kmch.com.
