New Vienna Man Arrested for Arson after Cornfield Fire

A New Vienna man has been arrested with arson after starting a cornfield on fire.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office says 24-year old Lucas Hermsen committed arson by purposely setting Rob and Karla Kruse’s cornfield on fire. It happened the night of October 25th along 310th Avenue. According to the court complaint, Hermsen admitted he used a mixture of gasoline and diesel fuel and then used a lighter to light the cornstalks on fire.

The cornstalks were wet at the time. The damage was estimated to be less than five hundred dollars.

Hermsen was charged with Third Degree Arson. He turned himself in on a warrant on October 29th and posted bond.
