Delaware County Sheriff Involved in Two-Vehicle Accident

The Delaware County Sheriff was recently involved in an accident – with his squad car getting towed from the accident scene.

It happened the morning of Halloween on October 31st on Highway 38.

The Iowa State Patrol says Sheriff John LeClere was headed southbound with his squad car when an oncoming car in the northbound lane hit a deer. That car crossed the centerline, hitting Sheriff LeClere’s car.

Neither Sheriff LeClere nor the other driver, 88-year old Joseph Coyle of Hopkinton and his passenger, were seriously hurt in the crash.
