New Iowa’s Ride Making Overnight Stop in Monticello

Iowa’s Ride has announced its first-ever route for 2020 – and it includes an overnight stay in Monticello.

The new bicycle ride across Iowa was formed earlier this fall by former RAGBRAI employees who had quit after the Des Moines Register published a controversial story about Iowa fundraiser Carson King.

Iowa’s Ride will be held one week prior to RAGBRAI July 12th through the 18th and it will head the opposite way across the state, traveling east to west.

The ride will start in Dubuque on Sunday, July 12th and travel 48 miles to Monticello. After spending the night in Jones County, the bicyclists will head out of town 50 miles to Vinton on Monday, July 13th.

Other overnight stops along the route include Eldora on Tuesday, July 14th; Clarion on Wednesday, July 15th; Emmetsburg on Thursday, July 16th; Sheldon on Friday, July 17th; and Rock Rapids on Saturday, July 18th.

The total ride will be approximately 416 miles, with over 10,000 feet of climb for the week.
