The 70th annual Delaware County 4-H Volunteer Appreciation Banquet was held recently at the Country Junction Restaurant in Dyersville.
Jade Hargrafen, Delaware County Extension Director, and Kenzie Griffin, Delaware County Youth Coordinator, presented the 4-H Awards of the Clover certificates and pins to 4-H club leaders, project leaders, and Youth Committee members who have served 5 years and at 5-year increments thereafter. Five year winners were presented the Award of the Silver Clover, including Stacey Demmer, Lisa Hoefer, Marcia Nachtman, Michele Westhoff, and Kyla Lux. The Award of the Gold Clover for 10 years of service was awarded to Loras Bagge, Jill Knipper, Janelle Tucker, Ben Hutchinson, and Al Monaghan. The Award of the Ruby Clover for 30 years of service was presented to Harry Boots IV and Donna Boss. Receiving the Award of the 5 Point Diamond Clover for 40 years of service was Ruth Deutmeyer.
4-H Alumni Awards were awarded to Susan Hermann, Tammy Gasper, and Dennis Putz. This award honors former 4-H members whose achievements exemplify effective citizenship, leadership, community and public service, and have success in a chosen career.
Brian Pralle was the recipient of the Honorary 4-H Member Award. This award recognizes adults who have given service and leadership to 4-H through community service and success in a chosen career.
The “Meritorious Service To 4-H” award recipients were the Edgewood Locker and Dan’s Locker. This award is given to a business or individuals who give their time and/or resources to support the Delaware County 4-H program.
Donors of the Delaware County 4-H scholarships were also recognized for their continued support to the county youth members. The recipients of the scholarships were recognized at their graduation ceremonies last May. Hayley Goedken received the Harold & Gladys Childs Memorial 4-H Scholarship. Nicole Schilling won the Allen F. and Ruth Remling Memorial Scholarship. The Seth Sellner memorial scholarship was awarded to Georgie Hilby. The George Shearer Family 4-H Scholarship was awarded to Haley Burlage. The James R. & Frances Shover Memorial 4-H Scholarship was awarded to Hailey Hilby. The Robert E. Hall memorial scholarships were presented to Grace Reiss. The Gary (Otis) Helmrichs scholarship was awarded to Haley Burlage. There were three Delaware County 4-H Foundation scholarships which were awarded to Amber Cook, Shelby Westhoff, and Claire Rausch. The Tinker Family scholarship was awarded to Shelby Westhoff. The 4-H Food Stand Scholarships were awarded to Tehya Demmer and Alex Schnieders. The Roger and Jody Helmrichs Scholarship was presented to Brooke Wilson. The David Knipper Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Tehya Demmer.
