Elgin Man Charged with Attempted Murder

An Elgin man is facing attempted murder charges follow an incident Sunday morning at a bar in Elgin.  The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says that a physical fight took place at the Elgin tap followed by an individual shooting a firearm at another individual outside the bar.  Authorities arrested 25 year old Wyatt Guyer of Elgin. He was charged with Attempted Murder, Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon with Intent, Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, Assault with a Firearm, and Assault with Intent to inflict Serious Injury.  Guyer was taken into custody without incident and no injuries were reported from the incident. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Clayton County Sheriff’s Office, and Iowa State Patrol.  If convicted Guyer could face up to 49 years in prison.  He is being held in the Fayette County Jail on a $25,000 cash or surety bond.
