Two Businesses Tie for Manchester Chamber’s “Business of the Year”

Two businesses are sharing the honor of the Manchester Chamber’s Business of the Year.

It was a tie between Gateway Appliance and Lake Design & Décor. Phil Payne from Gateway Appliance says it was a huge honor for their business.

Gateway Appliance is one of the community’s newer businesses – they’ve been open for just three years in the big blue building on West Main in Manchester.

The other winner, Lake Design & Décor, has been in downtown Manchester for nearly three decades, expanding into a third storefront last year.

This year’s other nominees for Business of the Year were Exide Technologies and Bushel & A Peck.

Several other awards were also presented, with the City of Manchester Streets Department honored with the Ernest Hayhow Chamber Person of the Year for going above and beyond their required duties. When the Chamber hosts events downtown such as Rhubarb on the River or the Window Walk, the city employees are there getting the streets blocked off and ready to go. Streets Superintendent Jason Haight says it’s nice to be recognized.

The Manchester Chamber also presented the Delaware County Meritorious Service Award to Norby’s Farm Fleet and the Ambassador of the Year Award to Caryssa O’Connell.
