In a match-up of the top two ranked teams in class 2A the number one ranked West Delaware wrestling team dominated from start to finish as they defeated 2nd ranked Williamsburg 52-6. The Hawks who average around eight pins in each dual meet only recorded three falls in the dual but took it to the Raiders on their feet as they scored 40 takedowns while allowing just four. West Delaware head coach Jeff Voss knew how good Williamsburg is in the top position so the game plan coming into the dual was to score as many takedowns as they could:
The Hawks won 13 of the 14 matches with their only blemish in the dual coming by way of a forfeit in the final match of the dual, and Voss says the team has had some quality practices in the last couple of weeks and he sees that mentality translating into competition:
In the second dual the Hawks went 12-2 and defeated South Tama 62-6 as their record 15-2 and 9-0 in the WaMaC as they get ready to head to the Center Point-Urbana duals tomorrow. This will be the first time the Hawks varsity will be at the CP-U duals and Voss says it’s an opportunity to see some teams they normally don’t see throughout the season:
Coverage of the CP-U duals can be heard tomorrow morning starting at 9:00 on our website KMCH.com and switching to Mix 94.7 starting around 12:30 with Jamie Vaske and Nathan Vaske.
