RAGBRAI is coming to Anamosa.
This year’s route for the Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa was announced on Saturday night. It will head through north-central Iowa, starting in Le Mars on July 19th, with overnight stops in Storm Lake, Fort Dodge, Iowa Falls, Waterloo, Anamosa and Maquoketa before ending in Clinton on July 25th.
Anamosa will be the overnight stop on Thursday, July 23rd. It will be the town’s fourth overnight visit – in the past, RAGBRAI has stopped there in 1991, 2002 and 2012.
This year’s ride is expected to be the sixth shortest in its history. RAGBRAI says the ride from Waterloo to Anamosa will be the most difficult day, with bicyclists trekking 85 miles on a climb of over three thousand feet.
