HS Wrestling: West Delaware, Independence Clash In Regular Season Finale

The 10th meeting of the “Highway 20 Clash” and 60th meeting overall between the West Delaware and Independence wrestling teams will take place tonight in Independence, as the two teams battle for the traveling Del-Buc Trophy. The top ranked Hawks enter with a 19-2 record as they defeated 3rd ranked Williamsburg last Thursday and concluded a perfect week in dual meets with a 4-0 performance to win the CP-U duals. The Hawks lead the overall series against the Mustangs 39-20 and have won the past two meetings after Independence had won the previous six duals. The Mustangs come in ranked 2nd in the latest IWCOA rankings with a 24-5 in dual meets this season and finished 2nd last Saturday at Ankeny’s Dave Ewing Duals. West Delaware head coach Jeff Voss says any time these two teams get together, the rivalry makes for a fun night with the great atmosphere for high school wrestling:

Junior varsity gets underway at 6:00 tonight and will be followed by the varsity dual which can be heard right here on Mix 94.7 with Roger Reed and Jamie Vaske.
