Dyersville’s new brewery has been honored on the state level.
Textile Brewing Company, which opened last summer in an old sewing factory downtown, was presented with a Best Development Award by the 1000 Friends of Iowa.
The Best Development Awards program showcases projects that recognize connections between building and project development to quality of life.
Thirteen winners were recognized in various categories, with Textile receiving the Renovated Commercial award. Dyersville Industries took a vacant, blighted downtown sewing factory building, restored it and converted it into a place for the community. Using contents inside the building and preserving the original structure, its history is acknowledged in the brewery’s walls, décor and furnishings. The business has caused a ripple effect in tourism, downtown traffic and awareness of water quality.
Textile Brewing Company received the honor at an awards ceremony at the Iowa State Capitol last week.
