West Delaware Superintendent Dr. Kristen Rickey has been awarded a grant that will send her abroad to participate in a special program.
Rickey has been presented with the Fulbright Leaders for Global Schools Program grant. She is one of twenty U.S. citizens who will travel abroad through the Fulbright Leaders for Global Schools next school year. The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government – it’s designed to build relations between the people of the United States and the people of other countries that are needed to solve global challenges. The program sends cohorts of K-12 school and district administrators to Finland and Singapore for an intensive program – about ten days long – to learn about educational practices to enhance students’ learning and prepare them for careers and citizenship in a global economy.
Rickey and the other grant recipients were chosen based on academic and professional achievement, as well as demonstrated leadership potential.
