The Iowa high school wrestling post season begins on Saturday as area 1A and 2A wrestlers will look to finish in the top two of their weight classes to advance to next Saturday’s district meets. Along with individuals qualifying for districts the teams that finish in the top two in the team race in the sectional tournaments which all begin at noon Saturday, will qualify for regional duals and a chance to wrestle in the state dual tournament in Des Moines on February 19th.
In class 1A six area teams will compete in two sectionals that will meet at Starmont for the district meet. Four of those six area teams will compete in the East Buchanan sectional as Beckman, Maquoketa Valley, North Linn, and the host Buccaneers will be among the field with Don Bosco, Hudson, and North Tama. The sectional features 16 ranked wrestlers including 10 ranked wrestlers from Don Bosco, three from Hudson, and one each from Beckman, East Buchanan, and North Linn.
The East Buchanan sectional will meet up with the sectional held at MFL MarMac which consists of Ed-Co, Starmont, Central Elkader, Clayton Ridge, MFl MarMac, Postville, South Winneshiek, and Wapsie Valley. The sectional will see six ranked wrestlers, three from MFL MarMac, two from Postville, and one from Wapsie Valley.
Cascade will wrestle in the Lisbon sectional which will meet up with the West Branch sectional at districts features the Cougars, Alburnett, Bellevue, Central City, Midland, North Cedar, Northeast, and the host Lions. Lisbon has nine of the tournament’s 13 ranked wrestlers while North Cedar has two, and Cascade and Midland each have one.

Western Dubuque will conclude their regular season tonight as the 17th ranked Bobcats will host 13th ranked Cedar Rapids Prairie in Epworth.
