The Iowa high school wrestling post season begins tomorrow as area 1A and 2A wrestlers will look to finish in the top two of their weight classes to advance to next Saturday’s district meets. Along with the individual wrestlers trying to qualify for districts the top two teams in each sectional will qualify for regional duals and a chance to wrestle in the state dual tournament in Des Moines on February 19th.
Independence will host AP-GC, Columbus Catholic, Dike-New Hartford, Iowa Falls, and Oelwein for a class 2A sectional which will meet up at districts with the Decorah sectional which will take place in New Hampton. The Mustangs will look to gain momentum from their 3rd place finish at the WaMaC tournament and will take their four ranked wrestlers into a field that consists of seven ranked wrestlers in total as Iowa Falls comes in with three.
West Delaware begins their state title defense as the top ranked Hawks and their eight ranked wrestlers welcome in Anamosa, Monticello, Dubuque Wahlert, Maquoketa, and Jesup to the Seedorff Gymnasium. There is a total of 14 ranked wrestlers in the sectional which will meet the Williamsburg sectional in Center Point for the district meet next Saturday. Monticello and Maquoketa have two ranked wrestlers in the tournament, while Jesup and Wahlert have one each.

Last night Western Dubuque fell to Cedar Rapids Prairie 44-36 in Epworth on senior night. The Bobcats will now shift their focus to districts next Saturday as they will host a class 3A district.
