There will be a lot at stake tomorrow for 64 area wrestlers tomorrow as they look to place in the top two of their weight classes and advance to the 2020 State Wrestling Tournament next Thursday through Saturday in Des Moines.
In Center Point: 21 area wrestlers will be at Center Point-Urbana high school for the class 2A district four tournament as the top two wrestlers at each weight from the West Delaware sectional will meet the top two from the Williamsburg sectional. West Delaware qualified all 14 of their wrestlers to districts, Monticello had four, while Anamosa qualified three.
In New Hampton: The class 2A district six tournament will be held at New Hampton high school as the sectional from Independence will match-up with the Decorah sectional, as Independence qualified eight wrestlers to the district meet.
In Arlington: Five area teams qualified wrestlers to the class 1A district six meet held at Starmont high school tomorrow, as the East Buchanan sectional will meet up with the MFL MarMac sectional. Beckman and North Linn qualified five wrestlers, Ed-Co has four, Starmont has three wrestlers competing, while East Buchanan has two.
In Wilton: Cascade is the lone area team in the Wilton class 1A district eight tournament as the Cougars had two wrestlers advance out of the Lisbon sectional who will match up with the sectional held at West Branch last Saturday.
In Epworth: In class 3A Western Dubuque will host district four in Epworth which will feature Davenport Central, Davenport North, Davenport West, Dubuque Hempstead, Dubuque Senior, Linn-Mar, and North Scott. Class 3A only has the district tournament so all 14 wrestlers from each team will be vying for the top two spots in each weight class and a trip to the state tournament.
