Steven Ellis Wichman, 65 of Manchester, IA, passed away on Feb 19th, 2020 in Freeport, IL. He was born on April 8, 1954 in Freeport, IL the son of Clark and Barbara (Smith) Wichman. He graduated from Le-Win High School in 1972. In his youth he was active in the 4-H and FFA, where he showed the Grand Champion Scramble Steer in 1971. He married Lynn Ann (Walters) Wichman April 26, 2003 at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, IA. Steven was born, raised, and worked on the Wichman family Dairy Farm, Lena, IL 1954-1996.
He went to work for the Canadian National Railroad for 20 more years. His hobbies included being a lifelong farmer, if only a hobby farmer after he moved to Iowa. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and family gatherings. Working on antique tractor was a favorite past time. He enjoyed working on projects, fabricating needed parts.
Survived by wife Lynn Ann (Walters) Wichman, his four sons; Jeremy (Alice) Wichman of Loves Park, IL, Doug Wichman of Creswell, OR, Adam (Ashley) Wichman of Ridott, IL, and Matthew Wichman of Manchester, IA; grandchildren;Tyler, Zach, Nathan, Cierra, Tucker, Levi, Raylee, Sylias, sisters; Linda (Timothy) Quinn, Cindy (Jeffrey) Smith, Vicky (Ronald) Watson, Elaine (Wayne) Gift, all of Lena, IL.
He was preceeded by parents Clark and Barb Wichman, father in-law Martin E Walters and brother in-law Todd Walters.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Noon on Monday, February 24, 2020 at the Cornerstone Church at 18141 222nd Street Manchester, IA.
A visitation will be from 2:00 PM-4:00 PM on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at the Evangelical Free Church in Lena, and again from 10:00 AM until the time of services on Monday at the church.
Pastor Joe Camp will officiate the services.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his memory.
Steve was always a generous man and continued so after death by being an organ donor.
