A Manchester family is being supported by the Red Cross following a house fire Saturday night.
The fire broke out at the Dave Squires home at 612 East Fayette Street shortly before 8 pm.
Manchester Fire Chief Mike Ryan says smoke was reported coming from the attic. The house’s insulation ignited, requiring firefighters to remove the ceiling in two second story rooms. The department’s ladder truck was seen providing firefighters access to the second story of the home.
The Manchester Fire Department was on the scene for three and a half hours, along with several other agencies.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
Chief Ryan says the family is fortunate that the fire started early in the evening and was discovered quickly. He says the home’s smoke detectors were working.
