The Delaware County Pork Producers raised nearly 18-thousand dollars at their annual “Bake It With Lard” pie contest and auction on Saturday night. Longtime member Shirley Helmrichs says that money will be a big help to the group.
Helmrichs says they thank everyone who made a pie for the contest. There was a total of 48 entries, with a rural Earlville woman winning first place.
A total of 64 pies were auctioned off, with the little royalty helping bring those pies up to the stage for bidding. New little royalty was crowned before the auction, with this year’s title of Little Miss Pigtails going to Lily Jaeger.
Jerry Maker and Kaleb Kruse also helped auction off those pies. McAllister’s 1st place pie brought in $375, with the other top five pies bringing in between $275 to $350.
