The North Linn Lynx had a tremendous start and were able to continue it in their Class 2A semifinal win 79-58 over top-ranked Treynor. Austin Miller got it going with three of the teams eight 3-pointers in the first half. The Lynx jumped out to a 15-0 run and led by 13 after 1 quarter. The outscoring the Cardinals theme continued in the 2nd period as they built up a 44-21 advantage at halftime. Th Lynx offense slowed up some in the 2nd half and were outscored by the Cardinals but only by two points. Austin Miller had another splendid night with his 17th double-double on the season with a game high 29 points and 14 rebounds. Sophomore Cade Haughenbury had a career high 20 points, 12 for Austin Hilmer, Dylan Kurt with 9 and 6 for Kaleb Kurt. The Lynx won their 52nd game in a row, 107th of 109 and improved their record to 26-0. They advance back to their 3rd straight championship contest on Friday afternoon at 3:45pm. The opponent will be the same as last year as Boyden Hull defeated Camanche in the first 2A semi last night, 64-49.
Day 3 started off with the final 2 4A quarterfinals. Ankeny upset Iowa City West 68-54 and Cedar Falls avoided an upset to West Des Moines Dowling as the Tigers won 64-62. In the 1A semi’s, Wapsie Valley pulled off the 2nd upset by downing Montezuma 57-42 before Algona Bishop Garrigan beat West Fork 66-52.
