Delaware County Emergency Management called a meeting on Monday afternoon in response to the COVID-19 outbreak in Iowa, with numerous local agencies attending to discuss the current situation.
County Emergency Management Coordinator Mike Ryan:
Ryan says it was also an opportunity for all the agencies attending to find out how everyone else is dealing with the threat of the virus.
About a decade ago, Delaware County Emergency Management held a day-long training exercise for this same kind of scenario in which a virus pandemic affected the community. That kind of practice is helpful during unchartered times like this – especially when most of Delaware County’s emergencies on the county level center around flooding.
Ryan encourages Delaware County residents to follow the guidelines to help slow the spread of the virus here in Iowa.
And just stay optimistic that our efforts to help slow the spread will mean that we’re not following these guidelines for long.
