The COVID-19 virus has put a halt on school activities across the state, including Speech contests.
But the Maquoketa Valley Speech Department says they still had a chance to hold their own Individual Speech State Contest on Friday, March 13th before the school closures happened.
The Iowa High School Speech Association encouraged school districts to have their own contest where judges critiqued and rated individual performers – with the ability to nominate students as All-State performers.
Maquoketa Valley had a total of ten individual All-State nominations. Congratulations to the 10th through 12th grade performers Andrew Kloser, Paige Panosh, Lydia Helle, Preston Roling, Mason Lubben, Carlie Lewin, Shelby March and Kylie Chesnut and the 9th grade performer McKenna Thompson.
