Two more Linn County residents have died of COVID-19.
The Iowa Department of Public Health says one was an older adult between 61 and 80 years old and the other was an elderly adult over 81 years old.
The deaths were announced Thursday. It brings Iowa’s death toll to 29, with 9 of those deaths in Linn County.
Governor Kim Reynolds says there are currently 17 patients on ventilators in the northeast Iowa region, which covers the entire KMCH listening area.
The Iowa Department of Public Health also announced 125 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Thursday. That’s the largest one day total for the state. Linn County had 18 new cases (including one child), Dubuque County gained three cases, Jones County adds two and Buchanan County has one more case. The governor and her public health advisors have indicated that case counts will continue to grow this week.
Reynolds says Iowans making essential trips to the grocery, pharmacy or exercising outdoors should take a mask or some sort of face covering with them in case they need it.
