Iowa Coronavirus Update – Wed. April 15

Clayton County has confirmed its first COVID-19 death.

The Clayton County Board of Health announced Tuesday that the person was an elderly resident over 81 years old.

The Iowa Department of Public Health says it was one of four new deaths in Iowa, with the others in Johnson, Allamakee and Polk counties.

Fifty-three Iowans have now died from the novel Coronavirus, with 171 people currently hospitalized. Over nine hundred Iowans have recovered from the virus.

An additional 96 COVID-19 cases were announced in the state Wednesday, bringing Iowa’s total to nearly 2,000. Linn County has the highest number of cases in the state at 276, with 21 deaths. Dubuque County has 37 cases, with one death. The number of cases in other area counties includes 11 in Jones, Buchanan 8, Clayton 7 (with one death), Fayette 5 and Delaware County 2.
