New COVID-19 cases were confirmed in five area counties on Friday.
Linn County gained thirty new cases, while Dubuque County had ten, Fayette County three, Buchanan County two and Clayton County one.
The Iowa Department of Public Health says they were among 521 new COVID-19 cases in the state – that’s the highest one-day count so far, bringing that state’s total to 4,445.
Iowa also had its highest one-day number for COVID-19 related deaths on Friday at 11 – that includes four Linn County residents. The number of Iowans who have died from COVID-19 now stands at 107.

Black Hawk County now has the most confirmed COVID-19 cases in Iowa with 530.
Over 1,600 of Iowa’s COVID-19 cases have recovered from the virus.
