Additional COVID-19 deaths were reported in Dubuque and Linn counties on Wednesday.
The Iowa Department of Public Health says an older adult died in Dubuque County, as well as four Linn County residents. A total of twelve deaths were announced Wednesday – that the highest one-day total yet. It brings the state’s overall total of deaths related to the virus to 148.
There were 467 new COVID-19 cases announced Wednesday, for a total now of 6,843. Ninety-three percent of those cases are in the 22 counties where restrictions remain in place.
Linn County gained twenty new cases on Wednesday. Dubuque County has nine new cases, Fayette County three, Buchanan County two and Jones County one.
It brings the number of cases in each area county to:
652 in Linn County
97 in Dubuque County
20 in both Jones and Fayette counties
16 in Buchanan County
12 in Clayton County
4 in Delaware County
Nearly 2,500 have recovered from the virus in Iowa. Over 41,000 Iowans have been tested.
