Semis Cruise Through Dubuque & Delaware Counties to Honor Essential Workers

Around 70 semis made their way through Dubuque and Delaware counties on Saturday afternoon.

It was all part of an Honor Cruise to salute essential workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This past Friday and Saturday would have been the annual “Midwest Pride In Your Ride” event at Tri-State Raceway in Earlville. Since it was cancelled, organizers decided to host a cruise featuring semis.

Anyone with a Bobtail truck was invited to part of Saturday’s Honor Cruise – with one guy coming as far as South Dakota. They lined up in Farley and drove through fifteen area communities, honking their horns and waving to people who were watching along the way. Randy Nefzger of Petersburg, who helps out each year with the show, says it turned out to be a great day.

Nefzger says they want to thank everyone who helped with the event, especially all the local fire departments who helped lead them through the towns.

You can find a video of Saturday’s cruise on our KMCH Facebook page.
