The Delaware County Relay for Life will not be held this summer, but organizers are still hoping to get some alternative plans in place for fundraising.
The event is held every other year at the Delaware County Fairgrounds in Manchester to help raise money for the American Cancer Society.
This year’s Relay was planned for June 26th, but it was announced late last week that won’t happen.
Chairperson Shirley Rempt says they’re hoping to come up with some good ideas for some alternative fundraising.
The Delaware County Relay for Life will be sending letters to team captains to give them some direction during this time. She says they still want the Relay for Life team captains to keep in touch with their teams.
So far, fifteen teams have signed up for the Delaware County Relay for Life – usually about 25 teams participate, so numbers are down. But Rempt says teams can still register online through the official Relay for Life website.
