Dubuque County is consolidating its polling places for the June primary.
Dubuque County Commissioner of Elections Denise Dolan says it’s an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and help keep voters and election officials safe.
The usual 35 polling sites are being reduced to nine polling sites across all of Dubuque County. The nine polling sites include the Dyersville Social Center, Cascade Gym, Peosta Community Center and several locations in the Dubuque area. Dubuque County voters will receive a postcard notification of their polling site this week. Dolan warns that due to limited election workers to work the polls, there may be lines on Election Day when you show up to vote.
But rather than voting at the polls, Dubuque County voters are encouraged to stay safe and vote at home. Dolan says all of the county’s registered voters should have received an absentee ballot request form in the mail that they can fill out to have a ballot sent to them. Those request forms need to be returned to the Election Office by next Friday, May 22nd.
