Ed-Co is holding graduation this Sunday – but it won’t be your typical commencement ceremony.
Superintendent Rob Busch says they’ve made some changes to abide by the state’s social distancing guidelines.
And the seniors thought it was worth a shot – so Ed-Co’s graduation will resemble a drive-in movie theatre, with the Class of 2020 and their parents parked in their vehicles. A flatbed trailer will be used as a stage, with the seniors called up in small groups to receive their diplomas. At the end, all the graduates will be asked to get out and stand next to their vehicle – as they all move their tassle from one side of their cap to the other. And they’ll get a chance to throw their caps up into the air as a class while hearing their senior song.
Ed-Co’s graduation ceremony will begin at 1 pm Sunday – it will be broadcast live on KMCH and Ed-Co will be streaming the ceremony live on the school’s Facebook page. And be sure to cheer the Class of 2020 on as the Edgewood Fire Department leads their parade of cars through Edgewood after the ceremony – the map of the route is shown below.
Starmont is also graduating today, with a similar set-up at their school parking lot and a senior car cruise to follow through Arlington, Lamont and Strawberry Point. We’ll be broadcasting Starmont’s commencement ceremony on KMCH at 2 pm today. You can find more information about Starmont’s cruise route at http://kmch.com/event/starmont-senior-car-cruise/.
