The Great Jones County Fair in Monticello will look very different this year due to COVID-19.
The fair officially announced Wednesday morning that the 2020 Great Jones County Fair will be modified to only include 4-H and FFA shows with restricted access.
When the fair rolls around July 22nd through the 26th, there will be no concerts, no carnival, no food vendors, no beer tent and no grounds entertainment – with the fairgrounds south of the barns empty this year.
Fair President John Harms says they are making efforts to negotiate the terms with their entertainers and grandstand events for next year’s fair. They will make those announcements at a later date and address their current ticket holders with their opportunities.
Harms says their immediate focus will be with their youth and to provide a safe and healthy experience for them this summer as they showcase their hard work and projects.
