Pre-Season Softball Rankings Released

The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union released their preseason softball rankings yesterday. The KMCH Sports listening area is well represented with four coverage area teams in the mix.

In Class 4A-

Carlisle is number one. The West Delaware Hawks are ranked 9th after a 31-12 season in 2019 and a 4th place finish in the 4A State Tourney field. Central DeWitt begins their final season in the WaMaC Conference No. 15.

Class 3A-

The top spot belongs to Davenport Assumption. Williamsburg is 3rd. Anamosa coming off of their best season since 1996 with a 31-5 mark, losing in a Substate Final, is rated 4th. Mount Vernon is 5th.

Class 2A-

The defending champion North Linn Lynx who won it all in the program’s first time at state last season with a 42-4 mark is the top team. Beckman is 10th after finishing 3rd with a 30-14 record.

Class 1A-

Collins-Maxwell is one. Central City is 10th and Lisbon 14th.

And in Class 5A-

One is Fort Dodge. 4th is Cedar Rapids Kennedy, Dubuque Hempstead 10th and Cedar Rapids Prairie is 13th.

The first date teams can play games is Monday the 15th.
