Dyersville has cancelled its annual 3rd of July celebration and fireworks.
The Dyersville Commercial Club Board made the announcement on Facebook Friday. Their post read, “It is with a somber heart that for the first time since this tradition began many years ago, the Commercial Club Park Board has had to make the very difficult and unanimous decision to officially cancel”.
The Board says they considered all their possible options, including postponing the event and eliminating ground fireworks and park activities. They also considered just holding an aerial fireworks display with no event, but say it wouldn’t foster the income they need to pay for the fireworks.
They are looking forward to Dyersville’s 3rd of July Celebration and fireworks returning in 2021 “bigger and better than ever”.
