Delaware County gained another COVID-19 case on Friday.
The county’s public health department says the new case that tested positive is isolating at home. There are now nine active cases, all isolating at home in Delaware County. Seventeen residents have recovered from the virus.
An outbreak was confirmed at the Edgewood Convalescent Home on Thursday, with public health officials announcing that ten residents and staff have tested positive. Delaware County Public Health Coordinator Charity Loecke says they cannot confirm that the jump in cases on Thursday was connected to the Edgewood outbreak.
Delaware County has seen a total of 27 confirmed COVID-19 cases during this pandemic, with over 850 residents tested so far. Loecke says everyone should keep taking precautions to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus because it’s not going away just yet.
Over 23,000 Iowans have tested positive for COVID-19. Over 600 people have died in the state, while over 14,000 have recovered. Around 215,000 Iowans have been tested.
