“Kits for Kids” Keep Delaware County Kids Busy During Pandemic

Kids in Delaware County have been keeping busy during the pandemic with activity kits.

A grant from the Foundation for the Future of Delaware County COVID-19 Relief Fund allowed ISU Extension and Outreach of Delaware County to assemble 400 Kits for Kids activity bags.

Extension typically hosts ten summer camps, but had to cancel due to the pandemic. So to keep kids engaged and learning over the summer, they created four different themed kits – Art, STEM, Staycation and “Fizz, Bubble & Goo”. Each contained four lessons for kids in kindergarten through fifth grade. The kits were distributed in late June during meal pick-up for Ed-Co, West Delaware and Maquoketa Valley.

Donors have given nearly 30-thousand dollars to the Foundation for the Future of Delaware County COVID-19 Relief Fund over the past three months. A total of thirteen grants have been awarded to local non-profits with most of that money, including the $2,500 grant to Extension.
