Mahlon Harold Wilson – Delhi

Mahlon Harold Wilson, 90, of Delhi, Iowa, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2020, at his home surrounded by his family. Mahlon was born on February 2, 1930, in Hopkinton, the son of Harold and Vida (Milroy) Wilson. Mahlon was raised and educated in Delhi and graduated from Delhi Consolidated High School in 1947.

 

After graduation, Mahlon farmed and then was drafted into the United States Army in 1951.  On September 24, 1951, Mahlon was united in marriage to Nadine Pillard at the Zion Presbyterian Church in Coggon. Three children were born to this union.  Mahlon was honorably discharged from the Army in 1953. He returned to farming and drove a petroleum truck for Del-Q Farm Services for several years. Mahlon then returned to farming full time in 1968 and continued to farm until the time of his death. Nadine passed away in 1987. Mahlon married Mary (Winekauf) Andresen in May 1989. Mary passed away in August 2010. Mahlon then married Ruth (Srigley) Hillman on September 15, 2012.

 

Mahlon was a lifelong member of the Delhi United Methodist Church. He was a member and past commander of the Delhi American Legion Post 160, and also served on several boards in Delaware County. Mahlon enjoyed dancing, traveling, and fishing. He enjoyed spending winters in Texas for many years. Mahlon especially loved spending time with his family and friends.

 

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Wilson of Delhi; his daughter, Paula Timmer of Delhi; one son, Doug (Kris) Wilson of Delhi; his daughter-in-law, Ann (Dan) Wilson-Grant; five step-children, Darrell (Charlene) Andresen, Brenda (Mark) Wiggins, Connie (Ron) Behrens, Mike (Patsy) Hillman, and Steve (Renee) Hillman; one brother-in-law, Russell McPhail of Waterloo; 21 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

 

Mahlon was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Nadine Wilson and Mary Wilson; his son, Mike Wilson; his son-in-law, Jim Timmer; three sisters, Ettagene (Harold) Petlon, Zona McPhail, and Velma (Harry “Duke”) Swanson; and one brother, Wayne (Janet) Wilson.

 

Mahlon’s family would like to thank Hospice of Mercy and the Staff at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester for all of their excellent care.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., on Monday, July 20, 2020, at the Delhi United Methodist Church in Delhi with Pastor Keith Pitts officiating.

 

Visitation: 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., on Sunday, July 19, 2020, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester. Friends may also call one hour before the service at the church on Monday.

 

Interment with Military Rites:  Evergreen Cemetery – Delhi, Iowa
